Headmaster's Message Since its inception in 1912, Calabar High School has been having a significant impact on the educational landscape of this country. The rich tradition of excellence in scholarship, teaching, culture and sports has catapulted the school as a force to be acknowleged both locally and internationally. Our graduates occupy positions of influence and power in every imaginable vocation and discipline. They continue to make their contributions felt in all aspects of nation building. Our impact has extended overseas as our graduates with their well balanced foundation of schooling have been notably present in the professions and various positions of leadership in whatever community they belong.
The distinctive culture and ethos of Calabar promotes a school community that values and celebrates achievement. Every Calabar Boy knows that the school expects him to give of his best and more. Upon leaving school he is not expected to fade into oblivion but to become a useful citizen making a meaningful contribution to his nation and ultimately the world.
The founding fathers in their wisdom envisioned a school that sought to promote a core of values that emphasized moral and spiritual growth and development. The School continues to guide the students in moral thinking and the benefits of self-reflection, knowing that the caliber of students that we send out into the world is dependent on the kind of wholesome experiences that the school permits.
The school seeks to inculcate, in the students, values of courage, honesty, integrity, and loyalty to ones family, community, school, and country. Today I salute your group as every one of you epitomizes these values reflected in your willingness and indefatigable efforts at ensuring that the school is the beneficiary of your collective wisdom and selfless support.
Distance has not been a deterrent to what you propose to do because your love of your alma mater transcends even the friction of distance and has relegated it to just another constraint to be overcome. The launching of your website is one such step in the direction of placing the School within the reach of everyone and I congratulate you on this bold and decisive venture. We look forward to a steady flow of information between all the stakeholders and to the infinite possibilities that will be generated as a consequence of this technological insight.
The cement that will guide us into that greater sense of community is the love and concern that all of us share and in the certainty of success for the school as we live and practice daily the eternal words , “ The utmost for the Highest” and affirm with conviction, “ Here Sir, Here Sir, at the Call of Calabar.
